(Amy) We had a wonderful day together visiting Litchfield County; it's a beautiful part of the state.
We want to come back in the summertime to see the gardens that famed English horticultural designer Gertrude Jekyll planned.
Woodbury holds the distinction of being the antiques capitol of Connecticut. Woodbury's Main Street is lined with charming antique shops. Dave and I enjoyed perusing the selections at a few stores.
We ate lunch at Connecticut's oldest inn: the Curtis House. If you ever dine there make sure to save a little room for dessert which is included in the price of your lunch!
We visited the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, CT. It is an active abbey where the nuns follow the Benedictine order. We enjoyed visiting the chapel and walking around the grounds; it was very peaceful and beautiful there.
Topsmead Forest is a State Park in Litchfield. The drive to the forest was beautiful in and of itself. This is another area we want to come back to in the summer months. .
Our last stop of the day was at the Lamothe Sugar House in Burlington where they have just begun the work of tapping the trees for sap this year. We sampled the different varieties of syrup they sell (they all were excellent!), watched a demonstration of the syrup-making process, and bought some maple syrup and maple candies to enjoy. Yummy!

I think it is awesome that you take advantage and visit all the great places you are around. Everywhere you go looks like it belongs on a Christmas card!
How do you guys find all this stuff??? It looks like yet another fun adventure at the Choules residence. Let's get together soon!
