We swapped babysitting nights with our good friends the Thornocks and went out on a really fun date February 3rd to Penn's Landing.
After parking down by Penn's Landing we walked a couple of blocks to get some cash from an ATM. We walked by Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell on our way to the ATM!
We needed cash to get a treat at Franklin Fountain. Franklin Fountain is a darling ice cream shop that makes you feel like you stepped back in time to the early-1900s.
The store was filled with antiques. It was such a fun atmosphere!
We ordered a blackberry milkshake--it was delicious!
They do things right at The Franklin Fountain and give you all of your shake including the excess from the metal container they mix the shake in!
Next to Franklin's Fountain is Shane Confectionery. It is owned by the same people as Franklin Fountain.
We loved visiting these quaint stores.
We bought a chocolate-covered apricot at Shane Confectionery. This antique register still works!
We then walked over to the Delaware riverfront. This is where William Penn, Philadelphia's founder, first touched ground here in 1682. We watched the iceskating for a bit--isn't this a neat place for an iceskating rink?

We walked down the promenade and didn't see another person the whole time! It was such a relaxing and fun evening together. We found out that this ship houses a fancy restaurant called Moshulu.

We had a great time exploring Penn's Landing and the Olde City neighborhood. I can't wait to get back for another milkshake at the Franklin Fountain! :)

The Franklin Fountain looks awesome! It would be fun to live in those days ... it just seems like things were more simple! :) Anyway, it looks like you guys are doing great. Sure love you!
I want one of those milkshakes too! I love seeing your Philly adventures. It's such a great city to explore.
Herman has been at church the last few weeks. Seeing him again has made us miss our hometeacher "Super Dave" even more!
Ohhhh! I saw the Franklin Fountain on TV. It looks scrumptious. Whenever I come to visit you in Philly, we are so going there, deal? :-)
