Spring Break with the Choules

Yay!  We had our first official visit from family here in Philadelphia earlier in the month.   Coralee flew in on March 7th.
Josh was eager to impress Coralee and adorned his shirt with a bunch of stickers before we headed to the airport to pick her up!

Once we were back at our place, Josh busted his best moves for Coralee to Elmo's Brush Your Teeth.

The next morning (Thursday the 8th), while David was at school, Coralee, Josh, and I walked down to the Schuylkill River Trail where Coralee then took a jog.  In the afternoon David joined us for a bike ride down the River Trail and into Center City.  It was fun showing Coralee the flagship Anthropologie store and looking at all of the high-end stores on Walnut Street.  Mom and Dad Choules flew in that night.

Friday the 9th we spent the morning playing at home with Josh.  After Josh's nap we drove to meet David at school and take a tour of UPenn's campus.

On Saturday we drove to Valley Forge National Historical Park.  Valley Forge was the location of the encampment of George Washington and the continental army during the winter of 1777-1778.  These are recreations of the log cabin homes the soldiers built and lived in there.

Naked and starving as they are
We cannot enough admire
The incomparable Patience and Fidelity

                                                                                              –George Washington

The original building that served as George Washington's Valley Forge headquarters.  We were all inspired by the tenacity of the soldiers who weathered the winter together here at Valley Forge.

After church on Sunday Mom, Dad, Coralee, and David went out to see some of the  historic sites while I stayed home with Josh during his nap.

Christ Church--George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Betsy Ross all worshipped here!

Josh's dance was so cute! His little squeal laugh is contagious -- are you always laughing with him?? I would be -- we can't wait for Aspen Grove soon.

We also loved seeing pictures of our favorite Philly sites! It is so fun to see you loving that place so much:)

Josh has serious moves. Love it. And I think about the Schuylkill River trail all the time! It's my favorite place to run (and one of my least favorite ones to spell). How fun that your family was able to come check out the city. Did you get Philly Cheesesteaks?

Oh, and Josh's little swollen eyes in the last post are so so sad. I'm glad he's better.
